PE Intent
At Bottesford, we are athletes! We want all children to experience PE learning that is positive and motivating. We want our pupils to have the opportunity to succeed and excel in competitive sport and physical activities. We will create a positive and engaging learning environment that motivates students to explore different physical activities. By providing a strong foundation in physical education, we will help our pupils to develop the skills and confidence they need to succeed in life. Through our focused curriculum we hope to instil a love for physical activity that will fuel their health and happiness for years to come.
At the end of KS2, a Bottesford Junior School child will have:
- The knowledge and skills to improve their independentability and personal best.
- The kindnessto demonstrate the key values of sportsmanship, fairness and respect when taking part in sporting activities.
- Opportunities to work togetheras part of a team both within school and through competitive experiences.
- Shown that they are adventurousby taking part in a wide range of sporting activities.
- The ability to persevereand know that even when we fall, we can rise again, stronger and more determined than before.
- An understanding of their responsibilityto lead a physically healthy and happy life.
At the end of KS2, a Bottesford Junior School will have been taught to:
- Use running, jumping, throwing and catching in isolation and in combination.
- Play competitive games, modified where appropriate [for example, badminton, basketball, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rounders and tennis], and apply basic principles suitable for attacking and defending.
- Develop flexibility, strength, technique, control and balance [for example, through athletics and gymnastics].
- Perform dances using a range of movement patterns.
- Take part in outdoor and adventurous activity challenges both individually and within a team.
- Compare their performances with previous ones and demonstrate improvement to achieve their personal best.
